Minimum Tank size for Oscars and a Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think with one it should be okay, but most people will tell you that a 75 is too small for 2 oscars. Prepare to do lots and lots and lots of water changes.

I already do them once a week and there no problem since the tank is next to a sink.

You will need to do more then once a week, with 2 O's in a 75g really. How big are these guys right now? Personally, I wouldn't add anything else in there...how big is the Plec you have in there with them?

Actually I changed the size of the tank it will be larger than 80g around 85-86g one of the O's is just under 6" the other is about 4" the plec is probably 4" also.

Well, at that size...I'm sure they will be fine. But they grow rather quickly, personally I still wouldn't add any other fish to the tank, unless you have another tank to move things around once everyone starts growing. Really, IMO you should have about 55-75g per Oscar. Of coarse this is JMO....but I think they are happier that way.

BTW, have any pics...we all love pics of the fishies!!!!

with a ton of filtration and huge water changes you would be fine i wouldn't get a rope fish or a senegal they tend to get eaten by oscars or atleast attempted to be eaten species like delhezi and the palmas species are much thicker when older but tend to grow a little slower then senegal
