What's the minimum tank size for a Pacman Catfish - Lophiosilurus alexandri?

Thanks.

Up!! Just curious. Can't find much online. I wouldn't think they would need a huge tank seeing as there practically living rocks.

True, they don't move around much. I've been looking onto a few of these too. I would think at least a 55 gallon but 75-80 ish would hold one for years. Also you want deep sand for them to burrow into. That would keep them calm and happy.

I got the one I have now as a gift from a friend at 4" in 2008.

I bought 2 from Oliver Lucanus. One at 9" in 1997 for $250 and another in 1999 at 15" for $350. I don't see them on price lists often so am not sure what they are running for now.

Once they got to around 12" I placed them in 180 g or 225 g tanks. Here is my little one now.

How do you guys think one would make out in a 220 (72"x24"x30")-(LxWxH)

Your tank is a 225g

With the same size 12 square feet floor base as I use for mine. Both 180g (72x24x24) or 225g (72x24x30) have the same floor room. I did have my largest 23" in a 560g for a while but it passed on. I find they are very sensitive to water parameters.

So, do you think a 225 is good?

Yes I personally would say a 225 is good. Biggest I've had is 18-20" never officially measured it but it was bigger than my Silver at the time which was 16". I agree they don't move much but when they eat man they are amazing and they are great pets. THey swim up to eat and let you pet them cool cats. Miss my guy.
