Minimum tank size for sliver or black aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You guys are awsome, quick responses. I have a 10,20,65, and a 125 gallon tank. I want to get a sliver or black aro and some big species of Bichirs. Since i have so many tanks around i didnt know what to start him in.

Also any estimates as to how long he will out grow my 125 and ill have to buy a much bigger one? Thanks

its point less upgrdeing the tanks as the fish grows it will cost you loads of money in the end

rule no1 for me get the biggest tank you can then think about stocking it

a silver aro will need a 84inch long x 30 wide min tank size

your gunna need bigger than that

dont assume a silver arowana will stop at 30 in

the point is that the 300 for life idea is no good

your aro might be an exception

WTF!! your fish are weird!!!

your aros a runt, your jags a pussy, your oscars been to hell and back and your 17'' chinese perch got his ass kicked by a veija!! :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

How did your aro shrink then?
In earlier posts it was 28" and now it's 24"?

Talk about weird!

just because a aro can grow to 36inch doesnt mean it will need that space to turn around aros are very flexable and a 3ft silver or black aro could turn around in 30inch easy with space to spare

jardini and asian aros are not as flexable as silver or black aro due to the fact that they have bigger scales

lenght is the most important and should be about double the adult size of the aro MIN

the the next important thing is width a 4ft silver or black aro chould turn around in 24inc wide but to give a bit more room so i would say 30inch MIN width

the last important thing is depth but if you want to keep any mid water tank mates then 24inch is the MIN depth

ooops sorry but i do know how big silver and black aros get :D

oh look i used to keep a 27inch Black aro in a 72inch LONG x 24inch wide tank and that had no trouble turning around for thr 7yrs he was kept in that tank

but the tank was to small but only in lenght

I'm going to side with you on this one. I have never seen my aro take the entire width of my tank (24") to turn around, not even close.... Actually, because my fish is the same length as the tank is wide, it would be impossible for it to take the entire width because it HAS to bend in order to turn....
