I had a nice conversation with Ann, who is part of the Education department, and who incidentally may lead our tour if we decide to go ahead with it.
The tour would include Discovery Bay, which is a shark reef/saltwater preditor tank. It features predators from the florida coast. We would get to see a view from above as well. Then we would go to the 82,000 gallon Indo-Pacific tank. Where we would have a chance to meet either an Aquarist to talk about the fish, or a "life-support" person to discuss filtration and other aspects, our choice, but we have to know ahead of time. The tour can accomidate between 22 and 23 people, but they ask that no one younger than 10years old or so join us. This tour includes viewing of food prep areas and fish holding tanks for caring for individual fish.
At 10:30 they have a fish feeding in the Tropical Trails tank where we can ask questions via microphone to the driver that feeds the fish. At 11:30 there is a feeding of the shark reef and other SW preditors. Again, it is interactive, we can ask questions to the person that is above the tank feeding with a pole. Both of the feedings are open to anyone of any age.
At 11, 1pm, and 3pm there is a bird show, as long as the weather permits. She said if it is too cold the birds cannot be transported.
