See if you have an Agricultural extension Office near you, they would know of any suppliers in the area and what grows best (I know you don't want many but you maybe able to get better stock and maybe some freebies ).

Lol. i use them for grow out. I prefer glass tanks for fry rearing. Its important to see what's going on or you risk losing the whole brood.

Don't overdo the hair or string algae as it can effect the fishes gills.An airstone will give you needed circulation and aeration too.

I'm not sleeping... I'm just trying to figure out how it gonna affect the fish...

Hair/string algae is so fine it can break off from fish having to swim thru it and clogs the gill passages in some fish (particularly small ones since they don't have the force to move it out/thru).
