just keep your water clean and remove the other fish.... no need for salt for that

Hi,

When she first arrived the ray ate well. The feeding decreased over the next few days. Two days ago she stopped eating all together and her abdomen seemed enlarged. The swelling became more pronounced over time and finally she died. Seems that the swellig was gone when I fished out the body.

I fed her with blood worms (large fresh ones and frozen cubes) and the Arowana ate superworms, which sometimes fell to the bottom, but I never noticed rays eating them.

The autopsy didn't reveal any irregularities. The abdomen drained what seemed like blood followed by a large amount of clear fluid. The intestines (a primary system suspected of such quickly progressing failure) seemed normal, but presence of what seemed like two meals was a little suspecious in light of her not eating for the last two days. There could have been a blockage, though nothing obvious.

Any ideas what could have caused it? Note that the other Ray is doing great, is animated and feeds well.

I would be to mortified to cut up my dead ray. I have had 3 rays die on me. But they were small pups, and I still haven't found out why. Can anyone say CSI: stingray edition.

In my opinion, if I can check what was wrong, it only helps for everybody... for me, for my rays and for you... Knowlage never anought... If you know how to do autopsy better for you, because if you will find some kind of food that was no good, you will probably never buy it... Am I right ? And maybe your rays will have be still alive :)

I'm very proud that we've got members like this in our community (even if you made such a trifle of a mistake as misspelling knowledge, everyone can see that it is what you are after).

I just wanted to throw out there that I really appreciate people like you, who are willing to take a difficult step to further the community's understanding, even if just a small step.

So sorry for your loss.
