Thank goodness for being lazy!

I had left a few buckets full of water from a waterchange yesterday about a foot away from my tank. This evening I went down and found my tiretrack eel in ONE OF THE BUCKETS! He jumped out of the tank during the night and was lucky enough to land in a bucket of water. The water was freezing and he was really paled out, but he was still alive. I put him back in the tank and rearranged a couple of things to hopefully make him happier.

You had to be there to believe, my girlfriend and I were just staring at shock into the bucket. Thankfully I looked down for the bucket... because I had just emptied out two of them!

Yes and this is not some 12"+ monster that had nowhere else to fall, this guy is about 5" long. It was seriously a miracle that I didn't lose him.

I'm worried that since it escaped the tank and still found water it might try it again now. I even left some buckets in front of the tank again tonight just in case... :screwy:

why not just get better covers???????

or cover up all the cracks?

Lucky eel! Might want to slap some duct tape on there until you can figure out what to do with the covers.

The Man upstairs even looks after our eels !! I would thank the bucket also.

by that same train of thought, wouldn't it be more likely that the eel was so tramatized by being trapped in a cold-caveless bucket that is less likely to try again?
