Eel has not tried again to my knowledge. Appetite is normal and its dark colors have returned. I think that I've covered up the holes good enough now. I still plan on moving him to another tank, as I believe the polypterus he is growing out with are growing too fast to be considered safe tankmates (7 inches to his 5), and they are most likely the reason he tried abandoning ship.
