  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well if that's the case that can't be what he has since they are illegal here, right? but I swear this is what it was, oddest looking bichir I've seen, but it was pretty cool...now I'll have to get it so I can get pics and you guys can tell me what it is....

Can't hurt to just buy it for 20! :) I was at an LFS this past weekend and they had a tank full of palmas labled "CONGIOUS bichir" Yes you read that right not even "congicous."

They didn't know what they had nor could they spell what they assumed :)

okay, I was at my lfs today and he has 2 polys in one tank, one is what I though to be a sengal, looks EXACTLY like my sengal, but he swears it's a p. cong. and then the other poly in the tank is labeled as a extra large dinasaur eel, but it's CLEARLY not a sengal, it's almost black. He wants $60 for the large sengal that he's calling a p. cong. and $20 for the almost black "mystery" dinasaur eel. Now, here's my question, I only have a sengal, so I don't know what a p. cong looks like, but could it be that he just has them switched around, or do those really look just like a sengal, and do you have any idea what kind of bichir the really dark one could be? I asked him to hold it for me until friday so if I do end up getting it ($20 seems like a steal for something that isn't a sengal and 8" no matter what it is) I will post pics for a postive ID, but I was hoping you guys could at least point me in the right direction while I'm trying to figure out what this thing is....

Fish Store in Lincoln right?

I was there earlier today and saw the one that they were selling as the P. cong. I told them that the fish they were selling wasn't the same as what they had it marked as and that endi's are a lower jaw poly. He said that it was sent to them as a polypterus congicus so that's what they're selling it as. :screwy:

buy the dark one. if you don't want it i can take if off your hands for whatever you paid for it. i can't find anything besides senegals and i'm dying to get my hands on something else.....nebraska sucks for polypterus keepers.

for $20 just buy it. it could be a palmas polli as mine are pretty dark but look if the lower jaw is the same length or sticks out further than the the top jaw.

yes, the fish store...when did you go? he was holding it for me until friday so it certainly should have been there until friday (the dark one), but between this snow crap and my catfish getting sick I haven't been able to go pick them up (he was holding a rtc for me too, thus the catfish being sick makes a big problem there)
and x24, will do if it's still there when I go out tuesday, then we'll figure out what it is and you can prolly have him/her....
