missing crayfish....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
...I found one of mine (alive) three floors down from where the tank it was in was. They can move far and fast if they escape, they don't climb though. Check under furniture, the ones I've had escape show up under TV stands, dressers, etc.

Check the filters and substrate though, (certain species like to dig down), but I'd think the fish probably ate it.

lol holy crap... 3 floors...

i found one of them today(still in tank)... but no clue where the other is...

thanks for all the input...

That's funny. I've read about them liking to crawl out of tanks before, but finding them 3 floors down is ridiculous. I would bet on that cray being dinner before crawling out tho, unless you have lots of things in the tank in which he could use to climb his way out (even air lines and cords).

My crayfish always liked to find some crazy spots in the tank when he was about to molt. like inside my biowheel filter. he climbed up the tube(no top cover on the filter) and was sitting between the cartridge and the impeller.

lol, yea. I'd searched all over my room, office, living room... all the near by rooms and eventually gave up. I went down into the basement to do laundry later and found him in front of our water heater. Lil' SOB made it from the 2nd to 1st floor and then down into the basement, it was nuts.

Glad you found one, maybe the other will turn up, too. ^_^

Crayfish molt. When they do, they become very soft and hide for days. Either they are still hidden, or your fish ate them while they were still soft.

Yes they do bury. I had mine hiding in coral rocks and trying to get under my fliter. But most propably ur is eaten. If ur lucky he could be hiding in shadows in ur house. Anyway u could smell it. If the water has some funny smell, it definitely is eaten
