i have a 55 overflow with an XP3, it has a guard too but somehow i managed to loose my 4 inch electric yellow lab and a 2 inch ebjd...
i know i shouldnt have had the ebjd in the tank anyways but i couldnt resist the temptation... awesome fish

just try and block off any small openings as best as you can.... since i blocked mine off i havent lost any more fish

I wonder if Electric Blue tastes any different than your average, everyday Jack Dempsey? I do feel ya, I just lost a Managuense as a feeder too.
