ok heres my latest fish story last night at about ten o clock my sisters freinds come running to me telling me all theyre fish are going to die i ask why so one tells me well i was cleaning theyre bowl and it broke so we had to put all of them in my sisters bowl now they cant swim with out bumping into each other i go whoa how many fish are there one replies uhhh like 20 so i go over theyre i find this 16 feeder goldfish 1 danio 3 tiger barbs two gouramis and 2 large fain tail gold fish swishing around and gaping for air in a bowl that looked about only a quart
i say howd this happen how long have they been in theyre well about a few minutes they said but the story gets worse oh yeah apparently they go to WALMART i mean where else right buy 2 one quart bowls and buy 25 fish the associate told them that all these fish would be fine together in the two bowls
then it gets better they tell me when they were filling up one bowl the water they put in was too hot killing one of the gouramis
i ask them didnt you read about them ? you cant mix goldfish and tropical fish for one and for two not even one of these fish can live in those bowls they say we didnt know we thought they were pretty so we bought them that irked the hell at of me typical buying fish as toys instead of living creatures so my next concern was helping these fish as they were dropping like flys i rushed to clean out my spare 10 gallon in the hustle i broke it but then i got out my spare twenty wasnt going to let these fish die like that cleaned it and fitted it with a spare filter added some water conditioner and set it up in theyre house well most of the fish lived and are fine now
unfourtionatly 1 tiger barb died and so did alot of goldfish
but the rest lived and im happy to say i saved alot of fishes lives
then after the fish were fine i explained to them basic fish keeping and overstocking rules
