I was wondering how many people on here mix Africans with South American cichlids.. I had A tank Full of zebras with 1 Full grown JD, I also had another tank with many zebras with 2 EBJD and they all did fine.. I Just moved to Italy and I'm setting up my 75 Gal. I already have a Nimbochromis venustus, 2 Aulonocara nyassae male and female pair, and another zebra I'm not sure what type it is.. I also have Botia striata, and a Panaque nigrolineatus " Royal Pleco". I was wondering if a Green Terror would be a good tank mate or would it kill all the other cichlids, I know the loach and pleco should be fine. They are all 3'' or less except the pleco is 4". If the Green Terror wouldn't make a good tank mate does anyone know of a fish that would be that is similar to a green terror that would make a better tank mate?? Thankx in advance.

All lot of people will tell you different water parameters for different fishes. As you can see....i don't listen.

Yeah I know that the water parameters are different but, they are also different for alot of plecos.. And alot of africans as well as SA are thriving in south Florida, even though those water parameters are different as well. So IMO I think that aspec is fine, I just wanted to know how compatible they would be or should I go with another type of fish.. I would love to get another JD but they guy at the LFS here said he believes they are illegal in Italy..

I am not proud of it, BUT......I do have a couple male Honduran Red Points in my tank (Mostly Malawis)....One male HRP I refuse to part with (amazing colors). No issues at all, I don't change my water parameters anyways, and no aggression issues.

Water parameters really don't count for much, unless you are talking about wild imports. There are Africans which mix better with CA than other africans. "Haps", like peacocks, Ahli, venustus, etc work better than zebras. Tang. fish like Calvus are very timid, and usually don't mix well, despite being African. I have kept this mix myself, along with some large rainbows and barbs...HOWEVER, there were no pairs of CA cichlids...breeding in the tank would have caused mayhem.

If we were to go on that we couldn't do dats (asia) with silver/black/aussie aros (sa/australia) and polypterus (Afrika) in the same tank.. most mfkers do or have done it..
