I've seen articles saying that both Angelfish and Goldfish are better kept mostly with their own species or bottom dwellers. However, I have a 200 gallon tank and I would very much like to have Angelfish, Fancy (Ryunkin maybe) Goldfish, and to keep my Black Ghost Knife Fish.

Looking at their individual temperature requirements, it looks like they all do well at 75 deg F. The only other fish I have is a large pleco (12") and a couple Gauramis.

Is a single (I understand they become more aggressive when paired) Angelfish going to be too aggressive with my goldfish and black ghost knife? With 200 gallons and only a handful of fish, it seems like there should be plenty of room for everybody.

Advice? Alternatively, what are good tankmates for angelfish or goldfish that are medium sized and colorful?

k gold fish are cold water and angel fissh are warm water which = NO yeah what can hapen is the glodfish can be prone to diesease

Goldfish don't require a heater while the angels and the black ghost do...that combination will work without the goldfish. They also produce a lot of ammonia.

I understand that goldfish don't require a heater, but I have read that goldfish flourish in temperatures between 65 and 78 degrees. The angelfish flourish in 74 to 82 degrees. I don't see why I can't maintain 75 degrees and keep both fish happy.

The ammonia shouldn't be a problem so long as we continue to perform the regular water changes we always do.

I used to own goldfish and usually a requirement for them is that you do extremely large weekly water changes of at least 50% with 4 fancies in a 55 gallon. Not to mention they eat like pigs and produce so much more waste that dirty up the water. They are also more likely to eat all of the food before the tropicals do.

Although their temperature range may appear to cross. Keeping either species at a constant temp that is at the edge of their range is unhealthy, they'll be much more prone to disease and will shorten the life span of the fish.

goldfish waste will kill your other fish. if you need proof. test water parameters in a goldfish tank and in another freshwater tank

Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. Aside from the temperature issues, the pleco and goldfish will have pooping contests all the time.
