Is it a bad idea to mix angelfish with other African cichlids? Are they really weak and will get ick quick? I mixed 2 angel fish with some African cichlids (peacocks), tiger barbs, and some small catfish in a tank. Will they be okay or should I just return the angelfish? Just got them yesterday. I want to keep the peacocks tho.

Yeah... if you have another tank, I would separate them ASAP. If not, I'd take the angels back to the pet store for a trade-in...

Aw okay well I'll take them back in after I'm off from work. Are the barbs okay with the peacocks?
It's an odd combination, but I think it could potentially work. Nonetheless, you'd be better off just keeping African cichlids with other African cichlids. They aren't well suited for community aquariums.

Well I know that people keep the peacocks as a community tank tho...that was my plan then I was like, I want something else in it lol

African cichlids are often kept together, if that's what you mean. The idea there is that you just keep a large enough population to spread out the aggression. But it's generally not recommended to keep them with the other common "community fish."

Awwww okay! Well I just bought some more Africans and will get rid of the angel fish

water parameters are totally different from the 2. The mix will not go well. This just gives you a excuse to set up another tank :)
