my green aro is with my gt and oscars, minor chases from time to time with cichlids being the aggressor.

The keeping of black/silver arowana with large aggressive SA/CA cichlids is a a pretty common combination. Where you can get into trouble is with having the arowana too small. If the arowana is under 6" I would not recommend having it with any tankmates. Once you grow the arowana out to 10-11" you can mix with cichlids, but keep the length of the cichlids to about half of the arowana's length. Between 6 and 10" is a gray area, you may be able to do the mix, but the safer path would be to wait a couple months for the aro to be 10".

Thanks Brian. I really apppreciate the feedback. As of right now my zonatus and cubans are at the 3" TL mark. Trying to track down a black in my area is hard enough at any size so it looks like I have a little work cut out for me.

take bderick's advice and grow the aro out to at least 10". My silver aro is around 27" and the cichlids he is with include a midas, jack dempsey, red bay snook, and a firemouth. The aro chases around the midas and snook once in a while.

I have a 22" Silver Aro with a 10"-11" Jaguar and a 6" GT (along with a couple of 14"-15" FL Gars, a 12" Endli and a 6" Common Pleco) .. All are going OK..

Please follow Brian's advice and keep the Silver Aro alone till he is about 10"...

Good luck,
Sid

I HAVE HAD MY SILVER ARO WID EVRYTHING. JUST DIDNT LIKE FLOWERHORNS.
AND LIKED TO EAT ANYTHING THAT WAS ABLE TO FIT IN ITS MOUTH. SO IF THEY ARE A DECENT SIZE IT WILL BE OK.
