mixing chiclids? (African/S.American)

i had a tank with

arro
black mbuna (malawi)
some haps (malawi)
tin foil barbs
red pacu
walking cats
purruno cat
T.S.N cat
pangaseas
convict

and some

jadeeyes

as well as a big jaguar

the only fighting that was in the tank was the MBUNA beating the haps.

But now i no more about the fish i have got a 300l with just malawis in and it looks a lot better now the right mix of fish are in there.
 
I would say no unless you are very careful about which species you mix. New world cichlids can be very unpredictable when it comes to temperment/aggression. My GT started out as a straight punk. But now he has established a corner of the tank as his own and will take on all comers. My jag has always been kinda nasty and does the same thing in his corner of the tank, My RD started out in a root that he has now out grown so he took a cave in the front of the tank from my LSN cat. As the new world cichlids or the african get older or pair off it could mean trouble for their tankmates. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, do a biotype tank.
