Mixing Geophagus species?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome thanks for the info I won't risk it , I wanted something more compatible and on the safer end of ththe spectrum , I do realize each fish have their own individual temperaments but wanted something leaning more towards succes since I won't be getting any aquarium larger then a 180 gallon. That 180 gallon took roughly 2 years of convincing the wife!

Two questions. What would you add to my current stock if it was your tank? and such beautiful fish ,nice color what do you feed?

I personally wouldn't add anything .......

Same here. If adding to the stock is a must, a female Severum to pair off with the male would be a nice display when in breeding dress.

Too many geo species causes a war zone amongst them and some of their best behavior and colors are missed out on IMO. Taps are rowdy for their size anyway

I agree with RD, and JK47 about not adding anything new.
If it's working now, why take the chance of ruining it, your Geo and everything else probably have a lot of growing to do, and will eventually get crowded. I've seen 6" Congo tetras, same with Bosemani rainbows, and seen almost 12" severums.
But if you do break down, be sure to quarantine any new fish for at least 3 months in a separate tank.

Sounds like a plan, I want what's best that's why I asked . Does this mean you guys wouldn't add more Congos , Bosemanies or maybe Yoyo's? Just curious. Thanks btw.

Love the attitude A AquariumHabit ! To me cichlids are the constraint for adding. Small fish are fine to add to if water changes are kept up.
