Mixing Goldfish and Piranhas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
YUP! just like other stated gold fish will be dinner for piranha...just think about it, nothing it safe with piranha.

Even when you have a group of pygo together there are high chance for them to kill each other. Piranha are very unpredictable.

* thinks to self " humm is this a serrious question" *

FEEDER FISH section of a pet store consists of gold fish and rosey reds. piranha eat gold fish. gold fish are pretty much only good for feeders. therefore i would say they woldnt last long, they would get picked off 1-by-1.

but good luck if you decide to try it?

i did the same thing with the gold fish cycle then i added 5 baby rbps two quickly got killed off by raming and other goldfish habits and the p's where scared of them i ended up giving the three 4" plus gold fish back to the lfs for a credit and have been feeding my piranha's neon tetras since
the piranha are now 2.5 inches

i bought the goldfish at the smallest possible feeder size for .69 for three of them
the store gave me 5 bucks a piece

that's torture for the goldfish.. the piranhas are too small to eat the whole thing... so they'll be takin little nips and eventually chunks out of the goldfish all the time..

i know that my RBPs can could eat large rosey reds when i got them and they were only about 1.5"-2" when i got them and now that they are 4"+ they will eat fish that are as big or bigger then they are so your golds proly won't last to long if your reds are hungy they will get ate

i agree with koop
when i got mine they were about 1in and they took a while to take down a goldfish
now they r r about 5in and they took down goldfish bigger than them

I guess it's a good thing I took them out 4 months ago, waited until the piranhas grew up a little and then put them back in.

dude if you want your lil p's to be aggresive in an early age, mix it with the goldfish even thought their 1" their already born killers hjehehe
