Mixing Victorians..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
chances are very slim that they would hybridize. i kept the "zebras" with pundamilia nyerei igombi island and no issues at all.

o ya, one more question concerning the vics...

I am setting the 55g up for my zebra ob.... are they open water, or more into rocks/hidey holes?

And do you think they would mix with sp. 44?

no i wouldnt mix sp 44 red tails with the kyoga zebras, the sp 44 has similure markings and is much more aggressive i gave some sigestions in this thread, and examples of good mixes.
blue obliquedends are sililare in appearance but not nearly the vibrant blue of the blue bar. daves rare fish as blue bar available i have kept them and forund them to be a very nice species.

I love the black ones... I am going to have to end up getting rid of quite a few of the zebra obliques.. I have entirely way too many males, and even at an inch long, I am noticing alot of nipped fins!!:nilly:

Deadman is right...I don't think there would be to big a risk with those two species. If anything, the problem may end up that the zebra's aren't aggressive enough to hold there own. Just depends on your group. Many think you cannot mix vics but that is not true...you just have to find the right mix which can be hard. If done properly and both species have plenty of their own females risk is pretty low. Now the sp 44's is a different story...They generally will spawn with anything so I would not mix those at all. Just make sure what you mix matches in aggression level and that your females are quite different. That is what makes it difficult.
