Its previous owner gave me an open bag of silver sides. He fed it a whole one for show when I picked it up, and routinely has fed a whole fish x2 on Monday, x1 every other weekday and none on weekends for a couple years
It looked to me like it was descaling the fish, with small clouds of scales emerging with each time it sucked it in and worked it in its mouth.
I’ve never had a fire eel or any other eel for that matter so I can’t really say what’s normal
The guy that sold me the fire eel yesterday called me last night w a sudden decision to shut down the tank. I won’t bore you with the details. In short, he had 5 pyrocephalus, a species I have had on my list for years, he wanted to move quickly and asked me to make him an offer. My favorite thing to do
With the AUL pick up etc, my fish kitty isn’t healthy atm, I made the best offer I could, respectable, but the fish are worth considerably more given there are two proven breeding pairs and a stunning extra male in the group. He accepted!
So this morning I drove back across town and picked these guys up and brought them home
Wow, good for you on getting the 5 pyrocephalus. At first I thought that due to this new development you were going to get rid of the remaining Moba. That would have been a sad day indeed but looks like everything is still ok then. You're still a Moba Frontosa guy, and then you have a few little side projects also going which is fine I guess.
No sir, the moba are staying I still have all of them actually. I haven’t downsized the group as yet. When I have time I will move them over to the 125gal.
The pics of the red heads were taken by me this morning in the previous owners 125gal tank. They lived with the fire eel, and will go into the 500gal tank w the eel and the AUL.
lol you know I'm joking of course. But joking aside, I think your new fish are definitely cool. I haven't made any changes with my tanks for awhile now. I'm still enjoying my Moba setup, though I might make some major changes with my other tank in the next 3-6 months.
