Moba grow out thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sounds good. The four star sapphire (2M/2F) that are in my setup have definitely had a calming effect on my Moba. I would add two more if I was able to in order to maximise that effect, but from what I've observed in my tank any more than six in with my 30 Moba might be too much as the star sapphire are more active.

I have a rambunctious fryeri & borleyi that will be making an exit stage left this week. They’re definitely too big for the mdokas. We’ll see once they’re gone how I’m feeling about adding maybe 8-10 mdokas @ 2.5-3” initially and reducing as they grow to full size if their activity level disrupts the moba serenity.

In the meantime the moba group was very chill this morning, boldly exploring the whole tank, even coming up in the water column when I approached the tank thinking they might get fed.
Here’s a vid of them this morning. Such a pretty sight. Very happy camper here 🤗

Looks like they're doing great.

Wow theres so many of them and they’re so small! Even though I complain about slow growth, seeing this shows me how far mine have come.

Beautiful set up and beautiful videos!
I guess in the grand scheme of how big they get they’re small, lolz 🤪
Being in a 10’ tank makes them look smaller as well.
Their actual size range is 3.25” - 4.5” 🤗
What size are your these days? Been a while since you updated your thread 🤙🏼

Such beautiful fish! I'm not an African cichlid guy, not really a cichlid guy at all, and what little experience I had with Africans was 30-ish years ago. But I've always thought that frontosas were absolutely stunning.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm so unfamiliar with them that I passed over this thread many times since I didn't realize that a Moba was a variety of frontosa! So glad I finally clicked on it, looking forward to watching your progress with these little guys. Thanks for posting, keep us up to date! :)

thanks jjohnwm jjohnwm nothing to be embarrassed about, you can't know what you don't know! I'm glad you stopped by mate! More to come!
