No, the fry would be f2. The hobby does not use the filial system the way it is used in scientific research.

:iagree: You can't take an F1 parent and get F1 fry from it. Just isn't possible. Mixing the two doesn't matter. Breeders do it all the time with lots of fish.
 
Actually, in the scientific community f1 is the result of breeding non-related parents. So you could have unrelated f5's, breed them together and get f1's.

BUT that's not how the aquarium hobby uses the f system. In the hobby f1's are the product of wild parents, a wild bred with an f1 will get you f2 fry.

I know, it's a little confusing, but that's how it works in the hobby.

Mixing wild stock with high quality tank bred stock is done all the time to inject new genes into the line to keep the line robust.
