I have a stock stand for a 180 I'm hoping I can salvage. I can reinforce it no problem, but the height is not giving much clearance for a 55/75. Fish Tank Travis Fish Tank Travis was it you that added height? I can't find the thread I saw this in.

Here's what I'm talking about. Just a 40b but super tight vertical clearance

Is the bottom of the stand open ? If so you can rest it on 4×4's

It will be once I start modding it. I don't even know if 4" will give enough clearance. The problem is that freaking skimmer. It's operating height is 9-11".

Good memory, that was me.

The 4x4’s on top and bottom are simple rectangular frames I built and attached for about 6-7” of extra height. I removed the bottom panel so it is just an open bottom and my sump sits on the floor. I was careful and made sure to pick out a very straight 4x4 to work with. I then added the lighter colored vertical pieces for additional support. I custom cut each one and had to tap them into place because they were tight. I then used screws from the inside of the stand that were long enough to go through the original board and into the new support to hold them in place. Each vertical support has five screws holding it to the original board that are spaced along the length.

I don’t have any issue with my 180 since my 2 eheim 2262s’ fit right underneath. I just rotate the pump to the side so the outlet would point to the direction I want it to pump back up to tank but before that I have the external 300watt heater that heats the 180 to 77degrees with a temp controller. Sorry for the mess underneath my stand as all mention just use 4x4 to raise it to the height u want. My 330 u used 4x4 than top with 2x3 to get that 4.75”.

Here are some pictures I just took of it. The 55 sits directly on the floor and I just measured the clearance from the top of the 55 to the bottom of the 220 and it’s exactly 15”.

I had to put the sump in before I put the tank on top. It doesn’t fit in any other way.
