never owned them.... and haven't really researched them... What do you know about size and husbandry?

Also Archocentrus Multispinosa

Or Cryptoheros Cutteri seem to be making a come back...

Maybe some

aequidens portalegrense Or similar species...

I don't really care for Rainbows or Ports too much, but the Cutteri are pretty cool looking.

Also most of the aequidens species would probably not breed in our liquid limestone water.

I searched for them and the only thing i could really find out is that they are sand sifters and that they are really good looking. Robertsoni especially.

I saw them on Rapps' Stocklist

Those are very cool. They get bigger than the cubans and grammodes. Some people will tell you a 55 is too small for them period. But I think if you got a group 0f 6, kept them in there alone, got a young breeding pair, and re-homed the remaining ones, you might get it to work for a least a while, if not longer. If they start getting huge some day you may want to plan ahead and get a bigger home for them.

I have a young breeding pair of red tiger motaguense in one of my 55s, but I didn't realize I had a pair until I spotted the fry yesterday. So I removed the other tankmates, and I'll try to keep the pair in here for as long as it looks like they aren't getting too large for it. Don't know how long that's going to be. But I guess I'll find out.

Well this tank is second on the "to get" list after my 125 gallon, so they may be able to go in there once they got toooo big, but i'd prefer to get a fish that would be able to stay in the 55 for life.

The Yellow Heads might be kind of iffy then. I'm not sure how big my RTMs will top out at, so I'm not sure mine will be in the 55 for life. But they have a ways to go. I know some specimens can get around the 1' mark, that would be big in a 55 for a pair.

The robertsoni are supposed to be rather rough on each other, which sucks becuase they are beautiful. But the rest of the sand sifters are supposed to be fairly mellow and mid sized.

I guess by the time they got too big i would be so attached i'd get them a bigger tank. They are definately a possibilty.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah they are really nice looking. How big is "midsized". 8'' or so?
So the Robertsoni wouldn't work in a 55?

breeding will slow the growth, my male rtm is 10" and a little over a year old my female is 7" and the same age

neets as first suggested are a good choice, the are not kept commonly, but are very fesity interesting little CA's
