Hey guys. I was gonna ask this in the reptile and amphibian forum but i figured i would get more help here.

A couple years ago, before i was into having amphibians and reptiles as pets, I caught several mudpuppy salamanders on the Mohawk River. All the ones I caught were accidents while i was fishing for walleye in rocky areas. I had 1 actually take my lure and i snagged 2 or 3, all in one season. Since then, nothing. I kept 2 of them for a couple months, then released them back to the river.

I'm interested in getting another one or two, and have actually been looking for a few years. I think they're probably the coolest amphibian out there and would love an opportunity to keep one again. I was wondering if any of you guys know where i can get them, either in the Mohawk or anywhere else in upstate NY, and also the best ways to go about finding some. Im not afraid of a swim if i need too in order to find some, so if anybody has any info, please let me know.

For those of you who dont know, im looking for these. Most fishermen Ive talked to hate them, and some are even afraid of them. They think they are poisonous.
