I know this is a bit of a distraction from the thread, but the name of that little beasty's actually quite amusing.

Mokelembembe means 'one who stops the river' in the Lingala language and is apparently a large, aquatic monster from the folklore of the Congo River region.

It pretty much amounts to naming a Scottish minnow 'Loch ness monster'.

I'd recognised the name for a National Geographic article from over a decade ago and decided to look it up on Wikipedia.

Pretty funny name for such a small fish, huh?

Because they are rare that's why they probably named it after that creature.

that is so cool! I wish they were available in the Philippines!

They will be available soon, not just Moke but any known bichirs species avilable in the hobby. I'm planning on doing this once I'm done with school.

So, that means:

1) People will start breeding the more over here.
2) More will be readily brought in.

Hopefully. :D

BTW, on the note of the Weather Loaches as feeders, are they difficult to breed en masse? I'd like to breed several as feeders when I have the space.

Keep your hopes up and I know your planning to collect them too.

I'm not sure if weather loaches are easy to breed. I keep buying 10 pounds of weather loaches from China town here. They are sell them in the fish market.
