so my red coral banded shrimp has had his first molt since i have had him, i assume this means im doing something write with my tank. now my question is thismorning i noticed my tank had a bit of murkyness and there were some flowting particles in the water, the only thing different in there in the last 24 hours was the shrimp molting and i bought a sea cucumber, now i cant find the sea cucumber but i assume he is still alive and hes not in my filters dead. so could the shrimp molting cause a little hazzyness in the tank and maybe some particles ? its a 90G

My cleaner shrimp has been molting once a month like clockwork and it hasnt caused any change in the water at all. I usually leave the molt in and it disappears within a day or two.

hmmm ok. i cleaned out the filter i cant seem to find any dead animals in the tank, everyone is accounted for except that sea cucumber, but im sure he is crammed around a rock.

My cleaner shrimp molts monthly as well and it doesnt cause any water qaulity issues. If your cucumber bit the dust, you would have really a large spike in ammonia. Get some purigen or activated carbon and toss it in your sump (with a media bag of course)

im already running purigen, i always do i find those bags work awesome. im just not sure what to do. or what caused it

The murkiness combined with the cuc going missing sound really suspicious. I would say you had a nuke. Good thing you run purigen.

lol my shrimp molts every 2-3 weeks, is this good? or a sign I'm dosing too much iodine? corals and what not are fine.

Gprime, Ive been told that dosing Iodine isnt necessary. I read up on wetwebmedia and it said that molting every three weeks and the tank owner was dosing iodine. It was suggested that the tank owner stop, as it sound every three weeks was a little premature.

I liked dosing iodine...but found and researched the same thing. It does good things for corals, but drives your inverts crazy.

It says 1 cap full for every 50 gallons i dose about 1/4th of that once a week.
