my new nile monitor is really starting to get used to me.I handle him around 3 times a day and hes dosent bite or tail whip anymore. He has sharp nails tho.Is there a way u can trim them

Rocks can dull them down. Only slightly though, however, it will help in the process.

You just gonna have to figure out how to hold him and clip them.

i had a hard time at first trimming my monitors nails, but now i've got the hang of it and it's not so bad...just take your time, make sure you're not cutting them too far down. if he's taming up it should not be a problem to do them yourself.

You have had him for 4 days and he is taming down already? Geesh, it took my ball python at least a week or two to settle down so I could handle him without him being skittish.
Good luck with this lizard!!!

nice ...can we get an update pic..of him..is he eating and everything..

THe lizard is probably so cold it can't move and thats why its not aggressive.

hows the cage looking? did you fix the things I told ya about? I don't want to act like an ass I just want you to be successfull with him. Some Picks would be nice too:)

Hey, I just thought I should throw this out there.

Seeing as you got you're moniter not so long ago, I personally wouldn't recommend handling him at all for the first week or so, afterwards take him out a little bit at a time, 15 minutes or so, let him get used to you and let him know he will be going back to safety when you're done. I've found doing this helps keep them from being aggressive when they are older.

that's just the way I do it.
