monitor coming along

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
arent they better on sand?

Nice Monitor! That'll be a cool Monster to deal with.

Actually I'm impressed you have a good sized "pool" for him to drink, and swim in, I think that this substrate is definatly better than the aspen you had him in, and he looks healthy. Good job.:D

Hey, I just thought I should throw this out there.

Seeing as you got you're moniter not so long ago, I personally wouldn't recommend handling him at all for the first week or so, afterwards take him out a little bit at a time, 15 minutes or so, let him get used to you and let him know he will be going back to safety when you're done. I've found doing this helps keep them from being aggressive when they are older.

that's just the way I do it.

:iagree: that gives him a chance to investigate and take in his new home.

Everything looks great! I have a Savannah, they are great lizards. I have found that the like the peat moss or even soil a lot better then sand thanks to a few MFK members that pointed this out to me. I have trimed my monitors nail before but they always seem sharper. I guess I just don't notice it anymore cause she is so calm.:grinno: She is almost 5 years old.:grinno:

seing as how niles like a little bit more moist then peat would be good..nice pics man
