I don't think I can go that big and if i could I would get a black throat or dumeril I could do 8 long 4 tall and 2 or 3 wide but 4 is just too big

what other monitors do you suggest and what are roughnecks like?

people always say good things about roughnecks.

if you cant go 4 wide i would stick with something small. look into ackies, timors and such.

I am really thinking either the peach throat or a B&W tegu

both of those need 4 wide. i know the tegu does. the B&W will get to be 4' long, if not a tad bigger. they are also very active. my buddies was always on the move.

Agreed. 8x4x4' minimum for a tegu.

yea if I got a tegu I would def go 8x4
I am think a tegu now as I have been hearing some really good things about them and I plan on getting mine from varnyard

Good choice.
Can't go wrong with varnyard.
If you havent already, check out tegutalk.com and thetegu.com

I have never owned one so I can't say much on disposition but it is hard to beat the looks of a nice blue-tail, and although they get long they are actually quite small-bodied (for a monitor). I'm planning on making one of these my next herp. The true captive breds are about twice as much but they still seem to be in the vicinity of $400 which isn't that bad, but they are harder to come by than wilds.
