Do they get along well together? I want to get more monos since I only have two Argentus but all my LFS are sold out but they have Mono Sabaes in stock.

Mono sebae's are more aggressive and may nip at the argentus. Have you tried looking for Monodactylus kottelati? Looks like Argentus but a nice orangeish red instead of yellow.

Yeah your not kidding, I bought the other an Argentus to keep my Sebae company and he stressed him to death.:irked:

I dont know where all these people get this crap abput " Oh they love being in schools" I bet If put like 3 others kinds of Monos in the tank he'd kill them all in a about a week lol:ROFL:

With these fish, I think it is best to put them all in the same tank at the same time. Once a Mono establishes its territory, it just ends up going bananas later on when you add a new one.

For almost 8 years I've housed Sebaes with Arg. 5 Sebae and 2 Arg. to be exact. And YES mine all got along together just fine. If anything the Arg. were dominant. Always ate first. No different than any other fish..... Just plan ahead. Get them young and at the same time.

You could expect that. Preferably, rather get a large school of a single species of Mono - it looks much better IMO and there is much, much less chance of your fish picking on each other.

And M. kottelati is a wonderful fish, but is very active (more so than other monos) and prefers either high-end brackish or marine water rather than what would be considered 'normal' brackish conditions.

Just got off the phone with my LFS. I ordered another Argentus. I think I'll skip the Sabae for now I'm not too fond of their looks anyway. Also ordered 3 Archers and some Scats :headbang2

Yeah I gotta call sunday so that the LFS put in their order for Mono Argentus and Scats. Im gonna try again with the Argentus hopefully the Sebae wont be such a bully to the Argentus this time around.

My Archer is awesome, he spits at like the weirdest things....It'll be dark in my room and the water that trinkles down from the cover back into the water, he stares at it and then spits at it thinking that the formation of water drops on the cover are actually meals that need to fall in the water.

Yeah I had the opposite, I had 3 mono Sebae, and got another couple Argentus, and the Mono A.'s dominated the tank.

You see the funny thing I am begining to realize about these Brackish Fish is that we're so busy trying to predict how they will act with other fish, that it just always ends up happening completely opposite to what we predict will happen .

My Mono Sabae hates the Argentus and you Argentus hates the Sebae's and for some people.....Well they get along like peas and carrots...

I dont know....I think they all got their own personalities and you just gotta figure it out and see who they like and dont like..:nilly::ROFL:
