Finally someone who really goes all out with photos! (not that Im an example). Those are gorgeous!What kind of personality do they have? What are your favorite traits about them.

And they CHANGE!! The colors change with mood choice of foods TYPES of foods!! There is nothing like a large Cichla getting a natural live food!! The colors get so intense in my opinion it is breathe taking!! Kinda like seeing snow for the first time without feeling the cold or seeing that sunset off of hermosa or Malibu when it turns the ocean pink and purple or orange... Almost as beautiful as my Wife's eyes...
The body shape of Monoculus is awesome in the fact that not only do they look graceful.. but they are also like Apache Helicopters!! TOUGH looking to.. And they can back it up !!
Anything that is just shy of the size of there head in width and heighth.. Can be taken in
Not always the smartest thing as this causes death when they do chew of more than they can handle.. Still most things gow down..The male in the pics took an 8" trout the other day...
And when they breed!! The black is so black you can almost see the path through it like a black hole..
The mouth structure is another point that intrigues me .
The fins all around are shaped for quick or long burst of speed.. So fast that any prey they want really stands NO chances of running.. They cover so much distance so fast and judge movement so well that even when prey reacts most of the time it was accounted for and head first into the Cichlas mouth they go... And if not head first.. Jerk jerk jerk cough cough and they are flipped around and down they go!...
I could go on and on.. but would repeat some stuff

I currently keep a 220 Gallon Oceanic with a colony of 7 wild collected Frontosa Zaire Blue Mobas (+2 captive born in the group making 9). The alpha pair are near 13" or so. I really enjoy these fish. They are very interesting and for some of the same reasons, Peacocks have always peaked my interest.
Peacock bass are something I would love to get into... but unlikely to happen unfortunately.
