Sorry I have been so consume with trying to get this tank cycled, its killing me. I seem to be in a Nitrite stall. The ammonia is on point. I can add up to 4ppm of ammonia and it's gone within 24hrs, but the ntrites are really trying my patiesnts. lol Though I have been warned it could take a month to get the nitrites to start coming down, its been a pain in the butt testing and waiting. I have also been ordering items to try and build doors and a false wall around the tank and item to redo the decor of the tank. I am hoping to have the project complete by Dec 15th, so in the next few days, there should be a lot more photos to come, we shall see.
Yes, I know the Dat grow extremmely slow and have been hard to get on pellets. I bought four Dats at 3''-4'' and they might be 5'' now and its been all of six months. The bass were bought at 2in and they are at least 6in now. If I get my hands on a couple larger dats in the 8-10in range, I will sell a few of my smaller dats since my wife has not become to attached to them yet. lol
You could take some filter media from your cycled tank to speed up the process. I used stresszyme in addition to established bio media and it still took a while for nitries to come down.
Yes, I used 8 liters of pond matirx that I had seeding in the holding tanks wet/dry, plus I used turbo start 700 frozen bacterial and 5 bottles of secheam stability and to my surprise the tank actually completed the cycle today. Which took less than two weeks to get through the first cycle, but to me that seemed like forever as this is my first time doing a fishless cycle. I have added 4ppm ammonia back to the tank in hopes that it is gone within 24-48 hrs, and if so i will do a 50% change and add a few fish this weekend . I'm getting excited again...
