i just picked up these guys a week ago i not sure if they are smokey or marble, and ones fins are short, is that something i should be concerned about? none of my other angels has short fins like that

They look pretty to me..probably just different type..there are marbled red heads,wild crosses, 1/2 chocolate,1/2 blacks, veil tails, marble,silver, gold, koi and many others... so being there are so many varieties i would say it is healthy just two different kinds..

Liz, I never get tired of seeing your angels. They have obviously been well cared for for a good while. Can I assume the biggies are atleast 5+ years old?

Should be ok. If your lucky they will grow out some more with age depending on whether or not they were like that at birth or if they were lost in a battle. My breeders have taken off each others pelvic fins past the half way mark more than once but they always grow back completely. Amazing!

The pics are a little darker, but they seen fine to me.
I got 3 angels with fins like that, like Liz said, probably just a different type.
