I took some videos of my 18inch male Dovii today during a water change.
He is looking really good and his soon to be girl friend is picking up size and condition after living with my other Dovii pair that I recently sold.
I am hoping to get some nice fry from these two fish.
He's colour is blue/purple/turquosie but he is getting big and thick.

cool looking dovii, 18 inch is HUGE! i have a roughly 3 inch which i acquired about a week ago. i am very amateurin keeping fish, but i know one thing i like monsters. Mine seems to have a yellow tinge through it is it a different species of dovii? would you be able to tell me the scientific names? thanks for showing your beast!

Spp Parachromis Dovii there are Nicaraguan and Costa Rican Dovii.
The later have more yellow than the Nics which have the blue.
In Australia we can't import new Dovii so our fish have been here for a long time and their original sources are unknown.

i didn't realize you are an aussie too, i am sad to hear about our old stock, i was just looking at some juvenile red dovii that made my fella look pretty ordinary. i bet mine would whip em all though! lol. thanks for the info

That's a gorgeous Dovii.

I notice he seems awfully calm and unaggressive though. What size is the tank? IMHO you should move the divider over and give the male a bigger swimming area than the smaller female. Maybe he's depressed since he won't even attack you when you put your hand to the glass. Or do they get less agressive when they get that big? Mine is about 13" and goes nuts if I put my hand on the glass like that.

i vowed to never post in the media lounge again but i had to break it because thats a beutiful dovii. ok im going back to my vow now. great fish
