Went fishing in the erie canal last night and caught this monster carp

If you slice it open and the meat is white you can eat it. If it isn't, it'll definitely have a funky smell. My oscar went nuts for it though. Never seen an oscar get a big enough growth spurt to fit its eyes before. LOL

I don't think the wild common carps have white meat.......or at least in my areas. Not excatly healthiest food for our fishes because of high levels of mercury and them being bottom dwellers sucking up chemicals and dirty things from the bottom.

Nice catch! I've seen a bow fisher shoot a carp that big and he took it home to feed to his animals. Lol I didn't think carp were healthy to eat. Even for animals
