Monster carp

I don't think the wild common carps have white meat.......or at least in my areas. Not excatly healthiest food for our fishes because of high levels of mercury and them being bottom dwellers sucking up chemicals and dirty things from the bottom.

True. I wouldn't be using one from a dirty body of water. Ours live in spring water so they are probably cleaner here than anywhere. They also make excellent catfish bait because of how oily they are.

And that is the reason you should never flush a goldfish. Do you have have exact measurements? Just wondering

It isn't a goldfish. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) don't have barbels.

Funnily enough - gold fish (Carrasius auratus) and carp (Cyprinus carpio) share a common wild ancestor, presumably Cyprinus carpio.

That being said - I have my qualms with calling them different species simply due to morphology.

In addition feeding this to your fish is a bad idea - Cyprinids do not make good feeders - read up on this, same reason you dont feed feeder goldfish.

Here are some carp related spearfishing pics of mine. I know people who have eaten them out of the great lakes...Ive only had smoked, so I cant vouch.

I can say that I have never seen one that had white meat.

More can be see on my spearfishing thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?223887-Spearfishing-Anyone/page10
