Make your cave to heavy to move. Do you have extremely intense diggers?

Oh yes. My BPs excavate my sand substrate constantly. I'm in my tank like once a week moving pounds of sand from one corner back to a more evenly distributed look. I currently have stacked flagstone as a backdrop and I constantly worry about catastrophic failure due to foundation removal.

I kind of stay away from caves or hides with polys...depending on what you have but the bigger lower jaw types get injured pretty often when they get spooked by something when i had allot of decor in the tank.

Territories are always tricky for me either not enough or too many and someone always wants the peime real estate to themselves
Mine is an ornate poly. Caves give him and the submissive BP places to hide when the Alpha fish in the tank goes on a rampage of douchebaggery. Plus I enjoy watching the poly guard his cave like a grumpy old man. He does occasionally get spooked and hurt himself, but you know... Darwin rules up in here.

Got this log cave from Walmart for like $20. Not a very good pic of it but it's large enough for the smaller Bifas to fit in it.

Hahaha well then that makes sense. Im sorry i assumed it was more than just the ornate...its the polys keeper in me.

You could get a 4inch pvc pipe and silicone on substrate like sand or gravel to give it a natural look

I did the pipe thing before. But he's recently outgrown it, plus I just never thought it looked natural enough. Chose not to make a bigger one. I found a big cave in the reptile section of the pet store. But at the moment he's too dumb to use it and is just shoving himself in a smaller cave. My fish are idiots.

You clearly underestimate the size of my fish. I meant MONSTER fish. The BPs are bigger than softballs and the poly is over a foot long and built like a tank. They wouldn't get so much as a fin inside any of the caves found at Walmart.

Ummmm...no, I DO understand the size these fish can obtain. The pic is kind of deceiving for size as you can't see the opening at that angle. My 12" common pleco used to hang out in there all the time. Won't work for the long term, but I was just trying to help by offering a suggestion. I, myself, do not buy fish stuff from Walmart, but this was given to me as a gift by my nephew and that's where he said he got it.
