Puddle of water
I have a monster fish collection including tigrinus, xl fei feng, xl 3bar indo, xl silver, xl ngt datnoid. I use to feel happy taking care of these fishes on a daily and now I m not relax just starring at the tank anymore, I have worries about them like are they swimming okay, If they are feed, no diseases or ick, If the water is dirty, needs water change, These fishes each i have its worth more then $100 each. Knowing these arent cheap fishes i get anxiety. Plus i spend tons of money of fish food. Anyone here feels this way and needs to move onto another experiment with fishes. Monster fishes are awesome but I rather have somthing I could watch and relax to with Peace of mind. Anyone here converted from monster fishes to guppy tank with plants? If so, let me in on this.! :)

Nope never thought of getting away from my monsters. I sitin my living room and stare at my tank for hours at a time. I know I take good care of them so I never worry about them.

Guppies? Ppl keep those as pets? Oops I thought they were only for MONSTER FISH FOOD!!!!!!

Talk to jcardona1. He went from 400G of monsters to 190G of discus and planted tank. To some, the monsters just get old after a while.

it took me forever to finally find the right mix and setup before i finally relaxed and found a mix that i could actually DE-stress looking at. I havent touched the decor or even considered changing my stock. I wont either. Not till they all die (of old age hopefully).

Just keep changing it up till you find what you like. Took me YEARS. You might find what you like for a few years and decide to change it up again. I just ended up with a sa/ca tank mostly. Everyone gets along. Nobody is too big or too small. No one is expensive at all. Maybe the Pike is worth the most. Which isnt saying much. I feed pellets and bugs if i can find one without having to touch it. Omega one is good food without that super price tag. So no anxiety of money here. The decor is finally how i like it. I havent changed it for over a year now and dont plan on it.

So basically you are saying you just want to fish keep, minus the monster. I've been in this hobby for about a year and a half, with that being said, I can understand the enjoyment aspect disappearing quickly from this hobby. I've talk to a couple guys about this but if you look at the cichla keepers and calculate how much is being spent on food, fish, electricity, water changes.. you realize why a lot of guys get out of the hobby. No offense to the cichla guys.

Despite all these points, there is nothing like having a monster tank with monster fish.

Go Big or Go Home! lol :D

Oh good lord, don't switch to wild discus if your goal is to de-stress. Just ask Jose how well he has gotten to know fish medications since making that switch.

Go monster or go home!!! Lol
Don't stress find what works for you and stick to it. And don't run up set about expencive fish. My tank currently has over $1500AUD in stock alone. Mind you in australia we pay $120-$200 for a saratoga jardini and $700+ for a silver arowana.
Living in australia and being in this hobby ya have to ready for the long haul, or otherwise its a massive massive waste of cash.lol
Lucky i love my monsters.

Yeah, probably not the best example, but the only one that came to mind.
