I'm going to jump on the Midas band wagon aswell.

A male Jag will work...unless it is one of those monsters that gets 15-16 inches. Other than that, I would go Midas, or Blackbelt.

you should get an amphilophus sp."red isletas" from rapps they are almost indentical to barred midas in personality and looks except their face is pinkish to red depending their mood, they are also rarer than midas, or you could get an a. amarillo

I would scrap the midas/devil idea, not a fan of them to be honest.

Or a female festae, male red tiger mota, cuban cichlid, male grammode or the varient of the BIG salvini

The male cuban i saw in someones fish house was much more aggressive and nasty than any red devils or midas ive seen.......

I'd have to say trimac. I would also look at green texas and red tiger motaguense.

The Vieja and Paratheraps bunch is nice too.

a Buttikoferi!

Both very aggressive, Butti often more aggressive.
I don't get it. Why just one fish!
I would get some Poly's in that tank as a Poly only tank!

(at least he doesnt crazily overstock his tanks buddy)

Personally im not a fan one one fish tanks, but any amphilo species would get my vote (barred midas especially) I think veija will get a little cramped
you could also try maybe a herithcys species such as pearsi or bocourti which are both beautiful fish

Texas or Green Texas cichlid would be my first choice. An adult carpinte looks awesome.
