pet stores do stuff like this all the time but with senegals or other types of fish. i dont really understand the appeal of this type of setup. the fish look healthy and water quality appears great...but i'd imagine the water volume in the filtration/sump exceeds that of the actual tank.

its kind of live going clubbing, love fest, foam party, rave, body against body, constantly. some would call hell, some would call it heaven. as long as they're healthy. bichirs are often found in the wild like that too, crowded in muddied water. if you want to recreate what's natural for them, it would be millions of gallons of muddied water contaminated with heavy metals and raw sewage from local villages
