Plecos are notorious Poop machines!!!

Yes they are. I traded mine in--very messy... Ny Jardini-"Brutus" craps like an elephant after every water change :ROFL::ROFL:!!! Salt also acts as a natural fish laxative.

Could also get the KleenSweep from your LFS. It is a poop vac that uses one of your air lines to create suction and keeps the water in your tank. I use it every other day or so to clean up after my pleco and 2 oscars. Then every 4 days I give them a small water change and one a month they get a large one.

Keeps the tank fairly clean but there is NOTHING worse then finishing up your cleaning and putting your tools away as you look up and see one of your fish's ass pointed to you as they take a dump. bastards

Big fish = big poop. Its part of life.

My guys don't wait until the next day before "redecorating their tank". An hour after a water change the pleco will have strings and strings of decorations hung!

If you think cichlids are bad, try raising pacu!

As for your water change question, fresh water fish love fresh water. Change all the water you want, it won't hurt anything, in fact its good for them. You should be changing at least 50% a week anyways and changing more than that is never a bad thing.

ya I just got a 11in sailfin pleco, and he is already pissing me off. He is making a mess of my nice tank, tearin up plants, moving sand all over and worst of all is all the damn poop.

The turkey baster is a good idea that Im going to have to use, need to run to the store anyways

I had a 10 in. sailfin i had to get rid of because of that problem. It looked like an enchamted forrest of crap in my 55.

LOL!! I had the same problem. My mom said it looked like he TP'd my plants with turds. It's ridiculous how much them things poop. The one I had I fed like 3 algae wafers every 3rd day to... and there wasn't that much algae in my tank and I swear that thing crapped more than I do.
