I do believe that they are breeding paimas on floating farms in the amazon but not on the scale of what the Thais are doing. It also has to do with the fact they are budhist and have a high respect and understand the importance of all living things. In SA they are more conserned with feeding their families than the environment and its sps...

Then that is good news if they are breeding them on any scale and I think I remember reading about the Thais doing a good deal of breeding for the pet industry.Whatever their reasons are for their projects,they are setting a good example for other countries to follow...Most documentaries that I've seen that cover Amazon claim that the waters are heavily overfished.
