Monster Fish Tank Size?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would like the tank to serve both saltwater and freshwater environments. The number of fish it will accommodate will depend on the types and size of fish.

I have an idea for making large fish tanks, but I'm wondering what size to go with initially. If my ideas pan out the tanks will be stronger and less expensive, but the trade off is that I have to stick with one size between 200 and 500 gallon.

I thought perhaps a 400 gallon aquarium 72"x36"x36", but I would like to hear what other people think.:feedback:

Are you talking about manufacturing large fish tanks to sell?

8' x 4' x 2' would allow you to use common lighting fixtures (2x 48") and house just about anything in our hobby for life.

As far as filtration I'm looking into using a mechanical filter that combines micron filtration (1 to 20 microns) with centrifugal separation at 100 gpm flow rate. Then follow it with (not necessarily in this order) a protein skimmer, ozone or UV, biological filter, nitrate selective resin bed, and an oxygen concentrator.

the 4' width would open up worlds of possiblities. Go for it!
