I don't blame you, but do go around saying that when you have never been fishing for grass carp in FL, escpecially in an overgrown lake.
THEY ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO CATCH. I'm just about resorting to snagging.
If not? I give up....:irked:

i'm not questioning the fact that grass carp are hard to catch but I was starting to question the details. like it's 6 feet long or whatever.

but, didn't mean to come off like a jerk. hope TS can somehow land it and take pics or get a good shot of it in the water

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I'M SOO FRIKIN PISSED!!! I had him guys! That's right! I HAD HIM!
It...was so close.....I was sitting there, in a clear open part in the lake, a mulberry tree thing right next to me, hanging over the water. I was just bluegill fishing with night crawlers, then all of a sudden....I see these giant lips come out of the water, and a big GULP! Scared the hell out of me as it was maybe 3-4 feet away, there's a maybe 4-5 foot drop off right infront of me where I was fishing. Anyways, I stand up verryyy slowly, and there it is, havn't seen it in a few weeks. A lightbulb clicks in my head, mulberry tree next to me, fishing pole, hungry grasscarp feeding off mulberry.
Just one problem, a 6 foot ultra light ulgy stick with 10 pound test.
Not exactlly fit for a 6 foot fish....but I take the chance anyways. I grap some mulberry, stick it on the hook, and throw it out. My heart was racing like mad...reeling it in just enough to keep it on the surface, right over his head. At first he doesn't notice it, I make a second cast, a bit to close but this time he hears the splash and investigates it, probably thinking more mulberry is falling from the tree. And there e goes, slurps it up. My heart stops. I set the hook hard, really hard as I was panicing. And he ran like HELL!! I only had maybe 70 yards of line one, the drag, singing like crazy. I had a smile on my face but at the same time I knew this was like wrangling a 200 pound tarpon on a medium action baitcaster with 20 pound test; Impossible. And while I was thinking he ran out all my line, and how hard he was pulling...hah wow, when all that line ran out that tug was so hard it yanked my 60$ ugly stick out of my hand and into the water. Luckily it got snagged on a log and all the line was pulled out.
Well...that's my story, my arm hurts...I'm going to bed...LOL

thats no impossible they catch world record marlin on 4lb test....
