Captain Ahab? Lol....
Anyways, I'm back. Took a little break from fishing.
And saddly, I havn't seen this monster for quite a long time. I visit the pond once a week. But nothing. I think mostly cause a lot of this pond's algae and grass has died out, due to spraying. And the pond has gone up several feet from the rain. I mostly go to a manmade lake near a park that has brillieant fishing. Lots of bass, the occassional gar, huge bullhead. Supposivley lake trout, and even crappie! And crappie would be a treat for me.

no way lake trout could live there. We have deep lakes here and we dont have it. Sorry dude its just to hot down there

Yes ,its way to hot here for trout. I am sure he see's another type of fish that jumps through the air esp at night with full moon.

I dont know the name. Imagine you would know what it is . Its trout "looking" .

Wow....what a night! I hooked into a 3 foot grasscarp on a bread ball at one of my local bass fishing lakes. And snagged a few 5 pounders, a bunch of 2 pounders. 3 Crappie. And to finish it off, another 9 pound bass!

Oh, and I've only "heard" there was lake trout in there, though I didn't really believe it. The Grasscarp fishing in this area is Phenomenal, with there being little algae and grass. Their main food soure is bread, which they feed on everyday thanks to the local walkers feeding fish. I hooked into one, but it got off, and there was a huge school of them, but the bluegill took my bread balls before I could get it down to the carp.

lol oh you did hook one? I have not. They pass through canal by work and even the maintenance man who fishes every afternoon has never hooked one.

We tried after they cut the grass and closest I got as one "nibbled" on bait (bread) but still no actual bite .

"but the bluegill took my bread balls before I could get it down to the carp"

Thats another dilema because the Miyans esp now with so many 1 to 2 inch young swarm on the bread.

and where are the pics?

I have a few pictures of the 9 pound bass. But the picture of the grasscarp is on my cell phone, And I'm not sure how to get it onto the computer. I was in hurry as I didn't want to kill the carp, as it's illegal in FL. I'm sure I can hook into another one late this week though, and I'll bring a camera.

Striped Mullet :D

Anywho, Carp like floating bait when in shallow water...if it's within casting distance, try sticking a huge wad of bread on the hook and just floating it out there.

I tried that, but once it's a few feet out the shiners tear it to shreds.
I found a better method though. Turns out, I was using some pretty old line, not the new one I had just bought, same brand and all but I got them confused. After I swaped the two, I can cast just about 3 times farther. And the rig is simple, a swivel, 30 pound leader just incase, 4 oz. pryamid weight 12 inches before a 5/0 live bait hook, and an inch before that, a 1 inch chunk of styrofoam. Just enough to keep the bait suspended. I noticed the carp have a hard time locating the bread in all the muck. I never imagined I would say this, but grass carp fishing is EASY in Cranes Roost Park. Louie, If you ever head up here for a vacation, stop by Cranes roost, I'm telling you. I could catch a dozen 3-5 foot carp Fishing from 8 am till dusk. I might head out later today, mainly for bullhead, but if I'm in the mood I'll bring the camera and show you guys the size of these things. :)
