We are talking about some monster inverts here - 5 tanks with giant prawn and 1 with a blue moon cray.

Until now, I've kept things pretty cheap and simple. The substrate is gravel with some driftwood and fake plants. I'm looking to give these guys a nicer environment, if possible.

For substrate I'm thinking about changing out the gravel for pool filter sand. Any harm to this? Possibly using some slate or flag stone to stack and make caves and whatnot. Still looking for more ideas..

Throw out some ideas or post pics of your setups! :)

Sand will give a more natural look. You could get a few large river rocks to lean the slate on or maybe even add some live plants and a piece of driftwood. That might look cool/natural.

Probably these inverts would eat up live plants real fast, no?

Maby try java fern and anubias, or just duckweed.

Live plants is a no no for sure, i've kept freshwater prawns and crays and both destroy plants over time... Even anubias kept getting trimmed till its just a stalk left...

Fake plants / driftwood and rocks iss your safest bet...
