Australia
These pics were taken on the bank of a stream in SE Queensland after some recent flooding. The guy who took them wont tell me the location though. The boot is size 10 this would make the fish about 4 feet long.
This is probably the maximum size, certainly the largest I have seen.
Would love to see a live one this size :WHOA:

very impressive
I'm not sure if that's the skull of an osteoglossid though

Edit: actually i think it is the skull of a lei. if so, that thing must have been monstrous.

Damn that thing must have been beast

Looks like the skull of an osteoglossid as apposed to a leichardti to me but still a monster, a good 3ft long i would have said.

What's a osteoglossid ? The only arowanas found in this reigon is leis

no mistake, that is a very large lei,
it would've bin somewhere in the dawson river,
well thats my guess. I've seen and caught them to a meter twenty.
fish to a meter are not that rare if you know where to find them.
very interesting anyway.

Sorry my bad osteoglossids is the general name for bonytongue fish so, covers everything from arapaima through all the different types af arowana, so what i just said doesnt make sense.

What i meant to say was i think its an Osteoglossum or silver aro, not a leichardti, but i could easily be wrong.

im no expert not being rude or anything im just putting it out ther that it was found in australia so i guess itd be a lei apposed to silver arro.

+ its huge wish my leich was that big!!! to bad its as big as 1 of the spikey back bones haha
