I spotted this beauty while mushroom hunting up the road a couple miles (Cascade foothills, Oregon). It is an adult phase Pacific Giant Salamander. They are the world's largest terrestrial salamander, though at 12" and about a pound (est.) in weight they can't compare to the Hellbender or the Giant Chinese Salamanders. Nevertheless, I thought he was awesome. It was very docile and slow moving.

Nice pic by the way! I love seeing native wildlife that people stumble across.
 
Its tail was hidden, but this picture gives an idea of scale with my car keys in the background.

That's big!!!!! Reminds me of the spotted I used to have. He died of old age and a skin infection that he couldn't fight off.
